This video of a young girl being viciously beaten by her father just because she dirtied his car has sparked outcry and raised a debate as to whether a child deserved to be punished so harshly.

According to online news reports, the incident -- which took place in China -- started because the girl had messed up the interior of her father's car.

He can be seen repeatedly hitting her in the video while inspecting his car. He also pushed her to the ground while grabbing her head.

However, the child nevertheless runs back to her father each time.

One netizen commented, "The way she keeps running back to her dad and reaching for his hand is heartbreaking. He's all she's got out there in the big world and he beats her away every time."

Some have also criticised those who were seen standing by and doing nothing to stop the beating, including the one who recorded this clip.
